Pop songstress Gabriella Cilmi has admitted she hates being compared to members of girl bands. Watch our video interview.

Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi says although she’s flattered by some comparisons, she’d be “p****d off” if you liken her to someone in a girl band.

During our exclusive video interview, the Sweet About Me Singer admitted she finds comparisons to Amy Winehouse, Anastacia and Macy Gray flattering. “I think they’re all really talented songwriters and musicians, so it’s not bad to be compared to them,” she explained before warning that she would hate to compares to a member of a girl band. “If someone was comparing me to the member of girl bands, I think I’d get pretty p****d off.”

Back with a new album, Ten, lead single On A Mission marks a definite change of direction for the 18-year-old. “I wanted to do something different and all my favourite artists evolve and change,” she explained. “One of my band members gave me this Donna Summer CD and I decided to go down a disco route.”

But Taylor Swift might have a run for her money, as Gabriella told us she’d love to bring out a country and western track next. “I don’t know what the fashion would be like if I did that. Dolly Parton style, but I’m not sure platinum blonde would really suit me,” she laughed.
