You should know about… The Wolfman
Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins take on a horror classic.
Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt
What’s the fuss about? The Wolfman is a new take on the classic horror movie of the same name, originally released in 1941. A stellar cast and amazing special effects make this new version worthy of the original.
What’s the story? Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) an actor working in America, returns home to England after hearing that his brother has gone missing. When his mauled body is discovered Lawrence promises his brother’s fiancé Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) that he will hunt down the beast that killed him. Throw in eccentric father Sir John (Anthony Hopkins) and you’ve got about as much family fun as an episode of Jeremy Kyle. Soon Lawrence is bitten by the beast, will his family history come back to haunt him?
Best bit? Anthony Hopkins’ performance as Sir John is so chilling, he makes Benicio’s wolf look like a puppy dog.
Worst bit? Although it starts off as a gripping horror film, The Wolfman runs a little too long and left us waiting for the end.
See it with? Benicio describes The Wolfman as the ‘perfect date movie’; so it’s probably best to see it with your other half or someone you fancy, and be prepared for some snuggles.
